Marikina City is known for making and producing high quality shoes. While Shopinas is the Philippine Online Shopping Mall home to products of Filipino ingenuity. With this in mind, we visited Marikina to discuss with their valued local entrepreneurs what their needs are. The discussion was organized by Shopinas in partnership with the Marikina Shoe Industry and Development Office (MASIDO).
The MASIDO-Marikina Shoe Manufacturers Meeting was held last January 14, 2016, Thursday at the 4/F New Legislative Bldg. in Sta. Elena, Marikina City. It was attended by local owners and representatives of shoe and bag manufacturers.
The program was started by Coun. Ariel Cuaresma. He brought up the story of the tragedy that their city experienced during Typhoon Pablo. In relation to that, he told the attendees and encouraged them that this is the right time to expand and improve the channels for their products as well as their business and brands using technology.
Coun. Mario De Leon brought up the idea of posting online the local products and brands that shoes and bags manufacturers in Marikina are offering.
Mr. Mark Joseph Panganiban, Head of Business Development of Shopinas talked about how to empower Filipino entrepreneurs thru e-commerce. He shared a quote coming from Bill gates, the founder of Microsoft which is “If your business is not on the internet, then your business will be out of the business.”
He discussed that Internet plays an important role not only in everyday lives but also in the success of businesses. According to Mr. Panganiban, one of the best marketing channel that they can use for their products and services is the internet or joining in the eCommerce industry because it is more convenient, easy to use, and there are a lot of internet users nationwide.
After the discussion, inquiries from the attendees were answered by Mr. Mark Joseph Panganiban and Mr. Noel Box, the Officer in Charge of MASIDO. The entrepreneurs were keen on seeing the potential of eCommerce and are enthusiastic about the platform.
We do hope that the entrepreneurs see the need for businesses to have their own online store front with integrated payment and logistics solutions. If you want to harness the power of eCommerce for your business, feel free to register here.
